Rooms and suites

Harbour View Suites

Twelve suites on Elizabeth Street, each facing the water or the sandstone laneway behind it. King beds, deep baths, and a door that opens straight onto Hobart's Saturday market.

What you get

A room built around the view

The building went up in 1912 as a wool merchant's office, and the windows still run floor to ceiling because that's how they counted stock in daylight. We kept the glass, replaced everything behind it, and put the beds where the desks used to be. Guests tend to walk in, drop a bag, and stand at the window for a while before they do anything else. That's the point.

Old bones, new plumbing

We spent eleven months on the refurb and most of it went where nobody looks. New risers, new wiring, double glazing cut to match the original sash profile. The parts you do see are local: blackwood joinery from a mill near New Norfolk, wool blankets woven in Launceston, and bathroom tiles quarried on the East Coast.

  • King beds with linen changed every second day
  • Bath and separate rain shower in every suite
  • Mini bar stocked with Tasmanian gin and cider
  • Blackout curtains and double glazing on all street windows

Booking a room

From enquiry to key in hand

Six steps, and only one of them needs you to do anything. The rest is us getting the room ready before you arrive.

Pick your dates

Send us the nights you want. We hold the suite for 24 hours while you decide, no deposit needed.

Choose the floor

Lower floors sit closer to the street noise, upper floors get the full harbour line. We'll tell you which is quieter on a given week.

Confirm with a card

One night's deposit secures the booking. The balance comes off on the morning you leave.

Tell us the details

Late arrival, cot, dietary notes for breakfast, a bottle chilled for the room. Send it through and it's done.

Check in from 2pm

Reception is on the ground floor. If you land after 9pm we'll leave a code and instructions on your phone.

Leave whenever

Checkout is 11am, and we'll hold your bags in the lobby until your flight if you want to walk the market first.

Questions

Things people ask before booking

If your question isn't here, ring reception. Someone picks up between 7am and 9pm.

No. There's a council car park 90 metres up Elizabeth Street that charges about $18 a day, and we sell vouchers at reception. Street parking is free after 6pm and on Sundays, but it's first come.

Two of the laneway suites take dogs under 20 kilos, and there's a $40 cleaning fee per stay. Ring us before you book so we can put you in the right one and tell the housekeeping team.

Salamanca Market runs every Saturday and the gates are a two minute walk from our door. Rooms on that side hear the setup from about 6am, so ask for a harbour suite if you'd rather sleep in.

Weekdays from 7am to 10am, weekends until 10:30. It's cooked to order rather than a buffet, so it takes about fifteen minutes. Early flights can be arranged with a night's notice.

One ground floor suite has a step-free entrance, a roll-in shower and grab rails by the toilet. It's the same rate as the laneway suite. Tell us at booking and we'll hold it.
Ready when you are

Hold a suite while you sort the flights

Send the dates and we'll put a 24 hour hold on the room. No card, no commitment, and you'll get a straight answer on availability rather than a maybe.
